ATTN: New Vulnerabilities in Modern Computers

Meltdown and Spectre exploit critical vulnerabilities in modern processors. These hardware vulnerabilities allow programs to leak passwords and steal data being processed on computers. These malicious bugs can get a hold of the sensitive information stored in the memory of other running programs, such as stored in a browser, your personal photos, emails, instant messages and even business-critical documents. Depending on your cloud program, these bugs may also have access to your customer’s information.

Even if you have antivirus, your systems are most likely still affected.

Who Does it Affect: Almost every system – Desktops, Laptops, Cloud Servers, as well as Smartphones. In particular, they have verified Spectre on Intel, AMD, and ARM processors and will continue to test which system Meltdown is invading.

Next Steps to Protecting Your Environment: Because of the nature of these vulnerabilities and the potential to cause significant performance issues as a result of patching, it is not recommended that you patch without first evaluating potential impacts. Axis is prepared to help:

  • Scan to provide an analysis of your exposure to this vulnerability
  • Develop a comprehensive plan for remediation
  • Perform analysis of security and performance concerns related to patching
